The Property
The lodge officially sleeps 8–13 guests depending on your group makeup. The four bedrooms contain: a King (primary suite), a King, two Queens, and a Queen + 3 Twins. Comfortably sleeping 8 adults is easy. With kids in the twin room, you can push to 13.
Three full bathrooms. The primary suite has a private ensuite. The other two bathrooms are shared by the remaining bedrooms. All three have tiled showers and heated floors.
The lodge was completed in 2024 — it's essentially brand new. Everything from the appliances to the furnishings is current. It was built specifically as a vacation rental, so the layout and amenities are designed around group stays, not retrofitted from a single-family home.
Hot tub, game room (foosball, arcade console, fireplace), chef's kitchen with full appliances and island seating, heated bathroom floors in all three bathrooms, private garage and ski storage, deck with Mt. Hood and Skibowl views, Blackstone grill, washer and dryer, high-speed Wi-Fi, and Smart TVs in the living room and game room.

Location & Walkability
Yes. Government Camp is a small village, and the lodge sits on the village center. The Ratskeller (pizza) is 3 minutes by foot. Charlie's Mountain View and The Taco Shoppe are 2 minutes. The Govy General Store is next door. Mt. Hood Outfitters (ski rentals) is a 3-minute walk. Mt. Hood Skibowl and the Summit Pass Timberline access point are both 12 minutes on foot.
The lodge's flat village location is a real advantage in winter. When Government Camp gets heavy snow, properties on side roads and steep driveways can become difficult or impossible to reach. Ours is on flat ground in the village core — tow trucks and plows clear the main road first. We've had zero access issues since opening.
Government Camp is about 55 miles east of Portland on US-26. In normal conditions, that's roughly one hour. In winter with traffic or weather, plan 75–90 minutes. ODOT often requires traction tires (chains or AWD/4WD) on Hwy 26 in winter — check tripcheck.com before you leave.
Mt. Hood Skibowl is a 12-minute walk. The Summit Pass access point for Timberline is also about 12 minutes on foot. Mt. Hood Meadows (the best terrain on the mountain) is a 25-minute drive. Timberline Lodge itself is 20 minutes by car.
Booking & Check-In
Either platform works great. Both listings are the same property at the same price. If you're a returning guest, email us directly for availability and direct rates. Use whichever platform you're most comfortable with for first-time bookings.
Check-in is at 4:00 PM. Check-out is at 11:00 AM. Early check-in or late check-out may be available depending on the surrounding reservations — reach out in advance and we'll do our best to accommodate.
Yes. The lodge uses a keypad entry system — you'll receive your access code before arrival. No need to coordinate with anyone on-site. Full instructions are sent with your booking confirmation.
Cancellation policies are set at the platform level. Please review the policy shown on your Airbnb or VRBO booking page before confirming. We generally apply a moderate policy, but this can vary by season and booking window.
Skiing & Activities
It depends on your group. Mt. Hood Meadows is the best all-around mountain — best terrain, most vertical, most consistent conditions. It's the owner's family mountain. Skibowl is the most convenient (walkable) and great for night skiing and families. Timberline is beautiful and the place to go for beginners, iconic views, and summer ski camps. See the full breakdown on the Mt. Hood Guide.
Yes — Mt. Hood Outfitters is a 3-minute walk from the lodge. They rent skis, snowboards, boots, and helmets. No driving to a rental shop the morning of your first ski day.
More than most people expect. Trillium Lake is 4 minutes by car — flat loop trail, fishing, and the best Mt. Hood reflection photo in Oregon. Mirror Lake and Ramona Falls are excellent day hikes. Timberline's Cascade Dining Room is worth the drive for a special meal. And in June–July, Timberline runs summer ski camps on the Palmer glacier. See the full summer breakdown on the Mt. Hood Guide.
ODOT frequently requires traction tires on US-26 east of Sandy during winter conditions. This means either AWD/4WD with winter tires, or chains on a 2WD vehicle. Check tripcheck.com before leaving. Once you're at the lodge, the flat village location means you likely won't need the car for the rest of your stay.
